Camogie in Ahane NS
Well Done to our girls who took part in the 9 a side camogie blitz in Ahane GAA field on May 22nd. The team played Caherline in their first match which they won. They qualified for the finals in the Gaelic Grounds on 11th June .

There was a huge turnout of Ahane N.S. children in the Great Limerick Run on 5th May.

Ahane N.S. Boys played in the 11 a side hurling blitz in Boher on 10th June .
The boys played their first match against Roxborough which they drew. The team played Killinure in the second match and they won this match. These results brought them to the semi -final which was played against Donoughmore. The boys were successful in this match and have now qualified for the final which will be played in the Gaelic Grounds on June 11th.
The girls are preparing for their 9 a side blitz which will be held in Ahane GAA grounds on 22nd May .
Over the past few weeks, the children and staff in Ahane N.S. have been trying to pool together all the classes walking efforts to attempt to walk from Ahane N.S. to the G.P.O. in Dublin.
On the 26th of February, 32 children from 4th to 6th class travelled to Corbally to compete in the FAI 5a side tournament. Two girls teams and two boys teams competed from Ahane N.S.
The captain of Team one boys was David Foley Byrnes and his team mates were James Delaney, Eoghan Fitzpatrick, Luke O Donnell, Marcin Boch, Eoghan Foley, Oliver French, and Mark Lonergan.
Team two consisted of captain Ryan O Keeffe, Luke Phelan, Denis Blackwell, Tadhg Dillon, Freddie French, Dara Moloughney, Darren Collopy and Dara Kennedy.
Our athletics programme was on in U.L. this year, and it finished in a tournament which took place on the 23rd of February. There were both track and field events. These are a few examples of the track events:
1+1 lap relay, 2 + 2 lap relay, 6 lap paarlauf, 4x1 lap relay, obstacle relay and the over/under relay.
The field events included:
the standing long jump, the standing triple jump, vertical jump, speed bounce, the chest push (1kg), and the soft javelin.
This year, we are really enjoying the 10 @ 10 videos. We are completing these 10 minute bursts of activity in our classrooms in the morning time and it has resulted in increased energy levels in class and a sense of excitement to complete

On Friday 9th June a walk to school was organised by our Parents Association in conjunction with the Board of Management, the staff and the Active Flag Committee.
10 children qualified to take part in a Cycle Safety Skills test in UL organised by An Garda Siochána. Four Schools took part in this competition with Ahane N.S. placed second overall. David Foley Byrnes was the best boy overall in the whole test. Well Done David!
