Seesaw Learning Platform

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I write regarding the use of Seesaw as an online learning platform in Ahane NationalSchool. Seesaw is a digital portfolio tool which allows pupils to store their work in an online space and gain feedback from their teacher. It can be used on a computer (PC), tablet or phone. It effectively enables teachers to set tasks or assignments and include instructions or templates for students to use at home.

At present we are all very conscious of the changing nature of the Covid -19 virus and the potential imposition of restrictions. In Ahane National School we are adhering to all public health guidelines and have numerous controls in place to prevent the introduction and spread of the virus within the school.

We are very anxious to ensure continuity of education for all the pupils in our school. However we are also very conscious that at some stage there may be a partial or full closure of the school.

With the possibility of a partial/full closure and with the need to ensure continuity of education during a closure teachers are at present setting up Seesaw as an online learning platform for use during a school closure.

Parents need to download the seesaw app at In order for your child to use Seesaw, the app needs your child’s name in order to be able to associate work like their photos, videos or voice recordings with their account. Seesaw only uses this

Under GDPR in order for your child to use Seesaw the school must get your consent. If you are happy to consent to your child using Seesaw please email your child’s teacher saying “I consent to Seesaw”. The class teacher email contacts for receipt of consents are on the attached page. Once consent is received the class teacher will email you with your child's unique Home Learning Code to begin.

We ask that parents return the consents forms (attached) to enable pupils to have access to Seesaw in the event of notice of a partial/full school closure

Please feel free to make contact if you have any questions on this.
