GAA 5 Star Centre.

Ahane NS  has been awarded a 5 Star GAA Centre award  in recognition of the school’s level of  participation in GAA  activities. The GAA 5 Star Initiative aims to support and recognise Primary Schools that provide pupils with 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous Gaelic Games activities per week in a manner that ensures the children will experience fun, friendship, fairness and ultimately improve their fitness.

Congratulations to the children and staff who were successful in achieving this award. We thank Ahane GAA club and the Limerick County Board for their support with the promotion of GAA activities in the school. Ahane Club player and past pupil of Ahane NS Ciaran Barry coached children across the school  in the development of skills . Peter Nash from the Limerick County Development Programme also visited and worked with children in the promotion of skills. All class teachers promoted participation in games during P.E. classes. A special thank you to Mr. Ryan for his work with the school teams and the coaching of both the school hurling and football  teams.
